Mayor of Saint-Ouen-le-Brisoult (Orne), Yvette Lainé sees red.
Since November 5, 2024, part of its village has been deprived of access on the telephone and on the internet, and the company responsible for the repairs, Orange, don't hurry.
“In September 2024, we asked Orange to change a telephone polefollowing an accident, says the chosen one. The wire, then, was dangerously close to the ground. On November 5, an agricultural machine, which was trying to facilitate the passage of a vehicle coming in the opposite direction, unfortunately tore the wire at this location.
The beginning of the struggle, for the councilor of nearly 130 inhabitants.
I contacted Orange services, the directors of this, the directors of that. The administrators did the same. A first team came to replace the wire, except that the pole was still broken. So it wasn't the right team. They then left.
Pruning required
A few weeks later, the pole was finally replaced, but the wire was still torn and obstructing traffic.
“Orange customers then informed us that the wire would only be put back on if the hedge below the wire was pruned,” continues Yvette Lainé. The town hall was not even notified directly! “.
-However, this hedge is located on the territory of the neighboring municipality. “The deputy mayor of this town intervened to help us, and also contacted Orange.”
On December 27, almost a month and a half after the sectioning of the internet wire, the hedge was finally pruned. “I then sent a message again to one of the directors to report it. And to this day, things are dragging on. Orange has informed residents of a possible intervention on February 3, 2025.
That’s three months without internet or telephone.
A situation which annoys as much as it bothers the chosen one.
As mayor, many citizens believe that I can speed things up and solve these types of problems.
“By not carrying out the work, Orange is putting the town hall at risk. Faced with this enterprise, I feel helpless, and I know very well that I am not the only one,” she concludes.
