They targeted bakeries in Annecy and the surrounding area. Five young people aged 17 to 19 were arrested on January 15, suspected of committing burglaries in the Annecy area for several months, the gendarmerie said this Sunday, January 19.

The investigation, carried out by 40 gendarmes from the Annecy brigades, lasted several months. The first events date back to October 2024. In almost four months, the criminals robbed 17 bakeries, leaving with the safe and the cash, for total damage estimated at more than 28,000 euros.

Investigators put an end to this series of burglaries on January 15 by arresting five people, young people aged 17 to 19.

At the end of their custody, the accused were brought before the Annecy court and all received prison sentences. The main suspect, convicted of 14 of the 17 burglaries, was sentenced to two years in prison, one of which was closed. The others received suspended prison sentences and sentence modifications.
