Mbour, January 19 (APS) – Criminals attacked the Riu Baobab hotel in Pointe Séréne, during the night from Saturday to Sunday, taking more than 12 million CFA francs, APS learned from a source close to this reception hotelier in Petite-Côte, in the Mbour department.
According to the “official situation” communicated by one of the hotel managers, “12,100,000 CFA francs were taken in an armed attack,” said this source.
She reported that around twenty people armed with hunting rifles attacked this hotel reception, taking the money that was at the reception in their flight.
“When they were leaving,” the same source continues, “the gang took a hotel bus but they encountered the gendarmes (at the door), they got off the bus to shoot at the gendarmes,” who responded to their turn, forcing the thugs to retreat to take refuge inside the hotel.
The gendarmes managed to cordon off the hotel “but unfortunately, they [les malfrats] were able to escape by cutting the hotel’s barbed wire to go into the forest, leaving their equipment behind.
-“There were no injuries or arrests,” said the source, noting that an investigation was opened to elucidate this matter.
