The public credit and social assistance establishment gave a check for 4,000 euros to the association whose vehicles were burned at the end of last year. Thanks to a significant outpouring of solidarity, the Food Bank has just ordered six vehicles which will be delivered to it at the end of the year.
“You say your help is modest. But not only is it not, but it is precious. » Joseph Pronesti expressed his gratitude this Monday, January 20, when the Crédit Municipal de Nîmes bank presented a check for 4,000 euros to the Gard Food Bank which he chairs.
By this gesture, the public credit and social assistance establishment intended to show its solidarity with the association whose refrigerated trucks were destroyed by an arson on the night of November 27 to 28. “It is a testimony to the esteem that we take to the food bank whose noble missions we know”, said Alain Mingot in particular. The vice-president of the Crédit Municipal de Nîmes bank was surrounded by Thierry Collet, Georges Pagès and Marie-Chantal Barbusse, directors, Cécile Luire, general manager, and Caroline De Santis, director of the Nîmes agency.
Thanks to the generosity displayed by numerous institutional and private structures, and thanks to that of individuals, the food bank already has the sum of 450,000 euros in its account which is expected to increase further.
Since the disaster, it is also thanks to loaned or donated vehicles that it has been able to continue to carry out these missions. The first food distribution network for the most deprived in France, it distributed, in 2024, 1,750 tonnes of food to 43,000 beneficiaries in the department, including 18,600 in Nîmes.
Thanks to the amount already collected, Joseph Pronesti announced this Monday that the Food Bank had placed an order for six new vehicles. “They will be delivered to us by the end of the year”said the president who ensured that the logos of all helping structures will appear on the vehicles.
