Ducati launches highly anticipated season with Márquez and Bagnaia

A shooting organized away from the curious last week, then a few snowball fights shared as a teaser during the weekend: this increased the excitement of the fans, but the big meeting that everyone was waiting for was set for this Monday morning. The official Ducati team and the group's management launched the MotoGP season from the Madonna di Campiglio winter sports resort, the traditional scene of the presentation of the Reds under the leadership of the Audi group.

The Ducati GP25 presented this morning does not display any major revelation from a technical point of view and we must expect that it will only be truly visible in its final version at the launch of the first Grand Prix, which will be held from February 28 to March 2 in Thailand. By then, its new features will have been refined during pre-season tests, during which the drivers will have the opportunity to evaluate the developments and validate the choices. The livery is classic: Ducati obviously retains its emblematic red and its sponsors maintain their confidence in it.

The main interest of the event was more symbolic, since it was the first in which Marc Márquez participated as the manufacturer's official driver, and it was undoubtedly him who focused the attention. The Spaniard, at the head of the biggest prize list on the current grid, is taking the final step towards his quest for a rebound after several years of wandering and a perfectly successful transition season last year, which allowed him to adapt to the Ducati and Italian methods while removing any doubts he might have about his level of competitiveness.

Márquez is now teaming up with Pecco Bagnaia, reigning world vice-champion and firmly anchored at the front since he won for the first time – after a duel against the #93, precisely – at the GP of Aragón 2021: in 65 Grands Prix, the Italian has won 29 times, including 11 last year alone. Judged by the Spaniard as the reference in the pit, Bagnaia will be confronted with the most impressive teammate he has ever encountered, with the personal objective of retaining leadership despite everything.

Showing themselves in their 2025 suits, both drivers also revealed how their racing numbers and personal sponsors will be highlighted this season. For Bagnaia, it's a big change since he has to give up #1 to return to his personal number, 63, with which he hasn't raced for two years. There is also a change for Márquez, in the sense that his traditional #93 will appear in flamboyant red, as during his first test with the team last November.

Another change for the Spaniard: he must abandon his emblematic partner Red Bull for reasons of conflict with Monster, which sponsors Ducati. On the other hand, he can display the renewed support of his personal sponsor Estrella Galicia 0.0 on his helmet.

With such a dream team, the objectives could not be simpler for Ducati. The brand displays a growing domination over the championship, which it will try to confirm, if not further strengthen, by taking advantage of its drivers as well as its technical superiority two years from the change in regulations which could reshuffle the cards.

“Last year was a historic year, which makes us all proud,” said Gigi Dall'Igna, CEO of Ducati Corse. “I believe it will probably be impossible to do better than last year but we can surely improve ourselves to achieve the final objective which is to win the drivers' and constructors' championships. The important thing is to win, and not crush.”
