A fire broke out mid-morning around 9:30 a.m. this Sunday, January 19, in the heart of the village of Seix. The fire started in the “Le Pétrin Gourmand” bakery, before spreading onto the balconies of an adjoining 3-storey building. Four fire hoses were needed to contain the fire in the bakery and neighboring balconies.

The flames quickly engulfed the scene, mobilizing the region's firefighters to control the fire and limit the damage. This incident aroused strong emotion among the residents, attached to this emblematic establishment of the village.

Investigations are underway to determine the exact causes of the fire. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, but the material damage is likely to be significant for the bakery.

Significant resources deployed to control the fire

The fire which broke out in the laboratory of the bakery “Le Pétrin Gourmand” in Seix this Sunday, January 19, required a major intervention: two tank trucks, three fire engines, and 25 firefighters dispatched from Seix, Saint Girons , Massat, and Foix.

The police, representatives of Enedis, the mayor of Seix and the sub-prefect were also present on the scene to supervise operations and ensure security. This coordinated intervention made it possible to quickly contain the fire, although the material damage to the laboratory was significant. An investigation is underway to establish the origin of the fire.
