Waste in Mirepoix: the card is compulsory from February 1st
In Ariège, for several weeks, residents of Mirepoix have been complaining about the city's new waste management system. Among the reasons for the anger, a lack of transparency around the operation of the system and its cost. Alain Toméo, the president of the community of communes of Mirepoix, announces that a new information and awareness campaign will be put in place in the days to come.
“We added four collection points to meet the needs which had been underestimated and which had been noticed by residents. In addition, I had asked my services to hold a stand during the market to provide all the information to the citizens. We really did a communications campaign. I recognize, it is clear, that perhaps this was not enough and therefore we will redouble our efforts to communicate as best as possible following everything I have read and seen. »
Alain Toméo who also confirms Pyrenees FM that the new waste management system by card will be made compulsory from February 1, 2025, that is to say one month after the implementation which had been announced.

The Salies-du-Salat thermal baths vandalized
Doors destroyed, furniture thrown into the swimming pool, and beauty products stolen. To the south of Haute-Garonne, the thermal baths of Salies-du-Salat were pillaged during the night from Saturday to Sunday. “They trashed everything for no reason” confides a source close to the investigation to La Dépêche du Midi. Investigation which was therefore opened for theft with break-in at a meeting and destruction by the Saint-Gaudens public prosecutor's office. Remember that the thermal baths, managed by the municipality, are closed to the public at this time of year.

Perpignan prison is still overflowing
“Not a single place is available at Perpignan prison”: these are the words that the majority union of prison officers, UFAP Unsa Justice, is once again warning of prison overcrowding in the Catalan establishment. The union specifies that two people who were to be incarcerated yesterday could not be there due to lack of space, and were therefore diverted to Hérault.
This is the second time in a few weeks that the situation has arisen, and it is worrying according to the union, which also says it fears a tragedy, particularly in the event of a fire in a cell.
