this technique of certain beneficiaries to receive the maximum amount in 2025

Many French people can receive the maximum amount of APL 2025. Here are all the people concerned!

Personalized housing assistance (APL) represents real financial support for millions of French households. Increased by 3.26% on October 1, this aid paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) is calculated based on income and family composition of beneficiaries.

Thresholds not to be exceeded to receive the APL

The amount of the APL varies depending on the situation, some can claim the maximum allowance. First of all, know that this amount is determined according to the income of the previous year. That is to say the income received in 2024 for payments in 2025.

CAF applies a degression. This means that the more income exceeds a certain threshold, the lower the amount allocated. This method guarantees support proportional to the financial needs of the poorest households.

The income ceilings to benefit from the maximum amount of the APL were subject to a slight increase in 2025 to align with economic developments and responding to inflation. Here are the thresholds not to be exceeded depending on family composition:

€5,235 for a single person without dependent children
€7,501 for a couple without dependent children
€8,947 for a single person or a couple with a dependent
€9,148 for a single person or a couple with two dependent children
€9,498 for a single person or a couple with three dependent children
Or €9,851 for a single person or a couple with four dependent children
€10,202 for a single person or a couple with five dependent children
€10,554 for a single person or a couple with six dependent children
For each additional child, an amount of €346 is added to the ceiling

Amounts for students

These thresholds make it possible to identify the poorest households. The latter are often faced with difficulties in meeting their basic needs. Also note that students benefit from ceilings adapted to their situation for the APL.

It must be said that young people find themselves in equally precarious situations. Especially since most of them do not always have the opportunity to work at the same time as their studies. In 2025, these amounts were increased:

€8,600 for non-scholarship students renting traditional accommodation
€6,900 for scholarship students renting traditional accommodation
€6,600 for non-scholarship students living in a hostel
€5,400 for scholarship students living in hostels

These specific APL ceilings also make it possible to guarantee fair access to aid, whether the student is on a scholarship or not, and regardless of their type of accommodation. The people affected by the maximum amount generally remain those who have the the lowest incomes and respecting the mentioned ceilings.

People affected by the maximum amount

This is the case for single-parent households who have little or no income-generating activities. But also large families with modest resources. Or even students, particularly those in in a precarious situation or who have very limited income.

Additionally, be aware that applicants must also meet other requirements. In particular, reside in decent housing that meets safety and hygiene standards. Furthermore, the maximum amount is influenced by the characteristics of the accommodation, such as the rent and the geographical area.

Automatic income declaration simplifies access to the APL. Thanks to the information transmitted by the tax services, the CAF carries out an annual update of rights.

On the other hand, be aware that beneficiaries must also report any change in situation such as employment, a move or a birth. This will therefore help to avoid errors in calculating their allocations.
