Unstoppable. Unbeatable. Qualifiers are no longer enough to define Swiss downhillers this winter. For the fourth time in as many races, Swiss skiing celebrates a double in the premier discipline. After Justin Murisier ahead of Marco Odermatt at Beaver Creek, then Marco Odermatt ahead of Franjo von Allmen at Val Gardena and finally Alexis Monney ahead of Franjo von Allmen at Bormio, this Saturday in Wengen it is again the duo composed of Marco Odermatt and Franjo von Allmen who distinguished himself. In this order, just in front of the Slovenian Miha Hrobat.
“This is my house.” A few seconds after crossing the finish line, Marco Odermatt exults, stinging his response to the Valais slalom rider Daniel Yule who used it after his victory in Adelboden in 2020. He has just taken first place, after cutting up the track of the Lauberhorn. Disappointing on Friday in Super-G with a seventh place, the Nidwalden had revenge to take this Saturday during the downhill. And he didn’t flinch.
