Have you never had the chance to go to the Center Pompidou, the national museum of modern , in ? What if it came to you, with a selection of works selected around a theme by the teams of the museum also called Beaubourg? This will be possible, from this Sunday, January 19, and until the beginning of June, during around thirty stops in municipalities in the " rel="tag">Pays de la Loire, thanks to a traveling museum truck, the MuMo x Pompidou Center. What is MuMo x Center Pompidou?

The first MuMo (mobile museum) was imagined and founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Ingrid Brochard. His idea? “Making contemporary creation accessible to those who are far from it, from a very young age, by sharing an artistic and aesthetic experience in the territories. »

Since then, three traveling museum trucks have been put into circulation. The MuMo x Center Pompidou, which will spend five months in the Pays de la Loire from January 19, was born from the collaboration between the national museum of modern and contemporary art and the Art explora foundation, which is carrying out this project, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.

How does it work?

The MuMo x Center Pompidou truck will travel from city to city, with more than thirty stops in the region. Once the truck is parked for a few days, the teams deploy it and it offers an exhibition space of 45 meters, a loggia which allows around twenty works to be presented. “Designed by the architect Isabel Hérault and the contemporary Dutch artist Krijn de Koning, the MuMo x Center Pompidou is also a work of art in itself,” explains Louise Harrewyn, project manager.

What do we see there?

The exhibition On a trip is inaugurated with this tour in the Pays de la Loire. It brings together around twenty works from the Center Pompidou collection. “Travel is a theme that echoes the mission of MuMo x Pompidou, which travels throughout , explains Louise Harrewyn. We know that travel is also a recurring source of inspiration for artists. Finally, for the visitor, it evokes the travel experience that a work of art allows. »

There you can discover, among others, works by the hyperrealist sculptor Duane Hanson, the Icelandic painter and engraver Erró, the Lebanese artist Etel Adnan, drawings by Raoul Dufy and the 1902 film by Georges Méliès, The trip to the Moon.

Where to find this museum truck?

For five months, the MuMo x Center Pompidou will go from town to town in all the departments of Pays de la Loire: Saint-Père-en-Retz, Machecoul-Saint-Meme, Sillé-le-Guillaume, Fresnay-sur-, Sainte-Hermine, Coëx, Mamers, Juigné-sur-Loire, Terranjou, -Bellay and many others…

“Half of the stages take place in villages of less than 2,000 inhabitants and political districts of the city, explains Louise Harrewyn, project manager. 10,000 visitors should be welcomed. »

Is it open to everyone?

At each stage of its journey, the museum truck welcomes first and second grade classes: “The students spend 45 minutes visiting the exhibition, then we offer them 45 minutes of artistic practice. » All the mediation tools have been designed by the Center Pompidou team. “One in three children had never been to a museum before this visit,” according to Louise Harrewyn. At each stage, slots are also open to all. And it's free, without reservation.
