In Rouen, hundreds of cyclists pay tribute to Elina, killed by a driver on Tuesday

Several hundred cyclists gathered in Rouen to pay tribute to him

This Saturday January 18, 2025, at the call of the Sabine association, several hundred cyclists gathered at 11 a.m. on the Duchamp Esplanade. In tribute to the victims, they laid the bikes on the ground, before going, bicycle in hand, to the scene of the tragedy.

“We are facing a case of road and cultural violence against cyclists,” said Guillaume Grima of the Sabine association. It is our community that is deeply affected. »

We wish to appeal for appeasement. Cyclists and pedestrians are vulnerable users of public spaces.

Among the many people present at the tribute, Stéphane said he was “deeply touched” by this tragedy. “Today there is a real cycling community in Rouen. And this kind of event reveals our vulnerability,” testifies the Rouennais.

The motorist involved was placed in pre-trial detention

Fleeing after hitting these cyclists, the 48-year-old motorist was finally arrested at 10:15 a.m. “in the Buchy sector” by the gendarmerie and placed in police custody.

After 48 hours of police custody, she was presented to court and indicted by the investigating judge. counts of murder, attempted murder, aggravated refusal to comply and damage to the property of others. The accused was placed in pre-trial detention, under arrest warrant.
