SENEGAL-AGRICULTURE-PERSPECTIVES / Kaolack: the CRCR refines its contribution to the revision of the agro-silvopastoral law (responsible) – Senegalese press agency

Kaolack, January 17 (APS) – The Kaolack region (center) will contribute to the revision of the agro-sylvopastoral and fisheries orientation law (LOASPH), taking into account its specificity linked to climate change, salinization, to land degradation, said Sidy Bâ, president of the Regional Council for Consultation and Cooperation of Rural People (CRCR).

»The Kaolack region will make its contribution to the revision of the LOASPH, with its particularity linked in particular to climate change, the advance of the salt bed, land degradation, pollution and the organization of agricultural producers ”, indicated Mr. Bâ.

He spoke during a meeting of the regional development committee (CRD) devoted to the revision of this law.

Agricultural stakeholders, in the process of revising the LOASPH, highlighted all the problems of the Kaolack region, which is essentially agropastoral and fishing.

The governor of Kaolack, Mohamadou Moctar Watt, recalled that “it is not, in reality, a question of adopting a new law but of simply revising an orientation law which will place great emphasis on aspects of strategic objective”.

”This is why I asked that we be able to reframe the reflection around this objective and to engage it on the agro-sylvopastoral and fisheries orientation law,” he said.

The head of the regional executive maintains that any revision of the LOASPH must take into account the existence of the new public policy framework.

”It must necessarily be linked to this strategic objective. It is from this moment that, subsequently, we will be able to consider modes of governance and see what type of agriculture we need,” he said.

”Necessarily, we are looking for efficient agriculture which can ensure the permanence of agricultural production and which can always provide raw materials to be transformed by industries,” said Mr. Watt.
