Saturday January 12, 2025, it was match night for the Rennes stadium which hosted Olympique de Marseille at the Roazhon Park stadium.
At lunchtime, we had to go to Neulliac, in Morbihan, to the Pakap bar-tabac-press, headquarters of a Rouge et Noir supporters club.
Dominique and Christmas in the spotlight
Founded during the last quarter of 2021, Pondi-Roazhon came together to honor two of their members. First of all, Dominique Servelpresent since creation. The former number 10 of the Saint-Ivy Pontivy Guard, coached by a certain Michel Jarnigon in the 1980s (present for the occasion) in HR and DSR, is a native of Neulliac.
This Stade Rennes fan since his childhood found the name of the supporters' club and proposed Pakap as a meeting place, even though the association is from Pontivy. From now on, Dominique is going to enjoy his retirement in Sables-d'Olonne, on the Vendée coast.
I would see fewer matches directly at the stadium. I'll be a two and a half hour drive from Roazhon Park, so I'll have to get organized. Either I sleep there or I choose to take the long road back.
Then it was the turn of Christmas the Pigthe oldest member of Pondi Roazhon, to be honored. The one who has just celebrated his 80th birthday (born December 26, 1944) says “always be there to be of service”.
-He is also the one who runs the refreshment bar during the annual garage sale. It must be said that he ran several bars in the 1990s, whether in Lorient, near Lake Guerlédan (at Anse de Sordan) and in Rennes. “With friends, we got into the game at the time. We met every week to support Stade Rennes. »
Around twenty members
It was with a certain emotion that the twenty members present for the occasion also paid tribute to “two of its pillars” who left in 2024: André Nicolas and Roger Le Meur.
Claude Euzenat, president of Pondi-Roazhon, invited Marcel Géraux, president of Allez Rennes, the largest Stade Rennes supporters club (1,100 members). “We go through him to buy tickets. Marcel helped us a lot at the beginning, to avoid skipping steps.”
Note that the next garage sale of the supporters' club will take place, like every year since the creation of the association, on May 8.
Both marked by Rennes-OM on June 1, 1971
When asked about their best memory of Stade Rennes, Dominique and Noël immediately think of a particular match: the semi-final of the Coupe de France on June 1, 1971 against Olympique de Marseille.
I was at the stadium with my father. I was 10 years old!
As a reminder, this opposition ended on penalties, where Marcel Aubour, SRFC goalkeeper at the time, stopped two shots after a miss from the famous Yugoslav Marseille striker Josip Skoblar. The feat calls for another: victory in the final of the competition, the only trophy won by a club before 2019 and the famous victory against Paris Saint-Germain.
Moreover, working in a bar in Rennes in the 1990s, Noël often met the club's players after a match. “Thanks to them, I got tickets,” reveals the now owner of the Pondi-Roazhon refreshment bar.
