After stopping production of its 4×4 Grenadier for lack of a seat supplier in September 2024, Ineos is putting the machine back on the road. A first vehicle left its Hambach factory (57) to be delivered to the south of France.

4×4 enthusiasts can rejoice. Production of the Grenadier and Quartermaster in the Hambach factory (57) has just resumed, for a third year of production. As a reminder, this was stopped in September 2024 following a shortage of seats due to the bankruptcy of its German supplier Recaro. A first vehicle left the production lines on January 16, 2025 for delivery to the south of France.
“This is a great start to the year for us, one that I am confident will be better and one that will build on the over 40% growth we have achieved in 2024.”rejoices Lynn CalderCEO of Ineos Automotive in the press release. Currently, 20,000 Grenadiers have been put on the road around the world. The 4×4 is now sold in 50 countries around the world.
Ineos was not idle during the production pause
“Large new markets like Mexico and China created additional demand just when we needed to pause our production lines. We have some catching up to do, but we are determined to meet this challenge“, adds the CEO of Ineos.
-For this recovery, Ineos is launching an eleventh color called “Devil Red” for its Grenadier and Quartermaster. Furthermore, the British manufacturer announces that the first orders for the Grenadier 1924 are entering production this year, in a limited edition of 1,924 units.
The shutdown of the Hambach factory also allowed Ineos to dismantle the obsolete Smart Fortwo manufacturing lines in order to free up space for “the development of future Ineos products“.
