Since the announcement of the measure to move the CM1-CM2 teacher from Ligré, Jean-Paul Boncoeure, to that of Chouzé-sur-Loire, his supporters united within a collective have redoubled their efforts to make hear their anger: leaflets distributed in mailboxes, online petition (signed by 350 people), protest banners hung on the school gates…
This Friday, January 17, 2025, it is in the streets that they chose to make their voices heard. At the end of the day, a small delegation was received by Christian Mendivé, academic director of Indre-et-Loire (Dasen), who came specially to Ligré.
For parents of students, incomprehension remains
For them, there is no question of accepting the decision of the academic management, qualified « d’injustice » et “relentlessly” by its support committee. National Education had justified it, in our columns, as a “temporary measure” intended for “protect the teacher”without giving further details for reasons of confidentiality.
The day before, Jean-Paul Boncoeure's supporters had arranged to meet the residents at the village's rural home. In front of around sixty people, they recalled that a similar situation had occurred in 2017: Jean-Paul Boncoeure, in office since 2006, had been suspended from his duties for his teaching methods “old fashioned”then reinstated in his class, thanks to a court decision.
Expressions of sympathy
What justifies his move to another school today? Those present admitted to having difficulty understanding. Everyone in the audience expressed their sympathy. A mother discusses the case of her son, subject to dysorthography, who judges « important » the calm that reigns in Jean-Paul Boncoeure's class. Another speaks of her daughter, “failing academically at the end of CE2” who has “regained a taste for life, for education” et “loved his year of CM2”.
Other testimonies highlight a climate of suspicion in the village. There was this mother who said that her daughter, when she was in CE2, was “terrorized” to the idea of entering Jean-Paul Boncoeure's class, because of what she heard about him. She finally mourned the departure of her master last Friday. A former student, now an adult, drew a parallel with the story of her grandparents, former teachers in Ligré, who had been “ousted” following “problems with parents”.
At the end of the meeting, Ghislaine Blain, one of the active members of the collective (1) read a message from Jean-Paul Boncoeure (2), addressed to his supporters. Currently on sick leave, the teacher was not able to take up his new position, as planned on Monday. He sought help from his lawyer at the time, Damien Gévaudan, and plans to challenge the National Education decision in court.
(1) She is also elected to the municipal council but said she did not come “in the name of this hat”.
(2) Jean-Paul Boncoeure was absent from the public meeting. As does the mayor of the town, Bernard Thivel. Contacted, the latter did not wish to speak to the NR.
No return planned to Ligré
The exchange lasted more than an hour. At the end of the meeting with Christian Mendivé, academic director of Indre-et-Loire (Dasen), the collective of support for Jean-Paul Boncoeure expressed its ” anger “.
According to Ghislaine Blain, one of the active members of the collective, who participated in this meeting, Dasen explained to them that “Mr. Boncoeure will be in Chouzé-sur-Loire until the end of the school year. Afterwards, he will be transferred (1). He will never return to Ligré. »
“What we blame him for is a problem of interpersonal skills and a deterioration in the health of children since 2018, she still relates. We cannot charge him criminally. These are measures they have when they cannot do otherwise. »
A decision “unfair” for the collective which does not intend to release the pressure. “We will continue to fight. We can't leave Mr. Boncoeure like this. »
(1) Jean-Paul Boncoeure is, for the moment, still holding his position in Ligré.
