This Friday, January 17, 2025, around 5 p.m., a utility vehicle caught fire in the town of Andouillé (Mayenne). This is a « explosion », according to the Sdis (departmental fire and rescue service) of Mayenne. The incident occurred on the RD115 which connects Andouillé to Saint-Ouën-des-Toits.
Taken to hospital
Aged 25, the driver of the Renault Master was burned on his hands and face. After the gas spread into the passenger compartment, it was able to escape from the vehicle which was transporting a welding machine and refrigerating gas cylinders. He was taken care of by the Smur and transported to the Laval hospital center.
A diversion put in place
The gendarmerie blocked traffic between Saint-Germain-le-Fouilloux and the exit from the town of Andouillé, in both directions. A diversion has been put in place by departmental council officials.
-In total, 28 firefighters intervened, coming from the La Baconnière, Changé and Laval barracks. A team of Laval firefighters specializing in technological risks was mobilized. A hose was used to put out the fire. Firefighters deployed a security perimeter to prevent any additional risk of explosion.
At 6:30 p.m., firefighters were still present to “perfect the extinguishing and cooling of the vehicle”. The mayor of the commune of Andouillé also visited the site.
