The episode of “combustion” type air pollution (fine particles) continues this Saturday, January 18 in the Rhône valley. vigilance (N1 alert procedure) is therefore maintained, indicates the Drôme prefecture this Friday, January 17.

During this episode, it is advisable to favor short outings, to limit intense physical activity, and for vulnerable people, to move away from major roads and to postpone their physical activity. Regulatory measures remain in force until the end of the pollution episode for the Rhône valley air basin. In detail:

Residential

• Prohibition on the use of wood and its derivatives as individual supplementary or recreational heating.

• Control the temperature in buildings (heating in winter: 18°C).

• Total ban on the practice of burning.

• In green spaces and public gardens, but also in private places, postpone maintenance or cleaning work with non-electric tools or with products based on organic solvents (white spirit, paint, varnish).

Transports

• Lowering the speed by 20 km/h (for speeds greater than or equal to 90 km/h)

• Lowering the speed by 10 km/h (for speeds equal to 80 km/h)

• Strengthening vehicle pollution controls.

• Modification of the format of mechanical competitions (land, air) by reducing training and testing times by 50%

Agriculture and green spaces

• Ban on burning.

• Total ban on the burning of agricultural and forestry by-products.

-

Industry and businesses

• Raise staff awareness and increased vigilance among operators on the operation of installations (operating parameters, stabilization of loads, proper functioning of treatment systems) and on the application of good practices.

• Report operations emitting volatile organic compounds (VOC): maintenance work, degassing of an installation, loading or unloading of products emitting volatile organic compounds in the absence of a vapor recovery device.

• Postpone operations emitting particles or nitrogen oxides (waste handling, grinding, transfer of materials) in the absence of an adequate treatment device.

• Put into operation reinforced depollution systems, when planned, for the duration of the pollution episode.

• Prioritize the lowest emitting fuel for mixed installations.

• Limit the use of thermal handling equipment in favor of electric equipment.

• Reduce the use of generators with strict safety conditions.

• Implement specific requirements provided for in operating authorizations

ICPE in the event of a level 1 pollution alert.

Construction (construction sites, construction, quarries)

• Implement measures to reduce activity on dust-generating sites and implement compensatory measures (watering, etc.).

• Limit the use of thermal handling equipment in favor of electric equipment.

• Reduce the use of generators with strict safety conditions.
