In an official reaction following the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which comes into force on Sunday January 19, Morocco welcomes the progress made towards stopping hostilities and attacks against civilians, triggered since October 7, 2023.
“The Kingdom calls on all Palestinian and Israeli parties to give Peace a chance and to demonstrate a sincere and constructive commitment, far from any cyclical or opportunistic considerations,” indicates a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad.

The Kingdom hopes that this ceasefire agreement will be fully respected, and that it will allow an end to attacks against civilians, the return of displaced people and smooth access and in sufficient quantities to humanitarian aid. .
As underlined by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Al Quds Committee, notably in His Royal Message to the last Arab Summit, it is fundamental to avoid emerging from one crisis to enter another, the press release continued.

Indeed, the ceasefire agreement should open the way to a real peace process, allowing the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side and at peace with Israel.
