A large-scale fire broke out on Friday January 17 in a pig farm in La Boissière-de-Montaigu in Vendée. The building was completely engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived on site.
400 pigs in the building
The farm covers 1000 square meters on the ground and it has nearly 400 pigs who all died in the fire. There was a risk of the fire spreading to a second building as well as to a tank. 2000 liter fuel.
Four hoses were used to extinguish the fire.
-48 firefighters mobilized
To extinguish this large-scale fire, these are 48 firefighters who were mobilized. They come from the barracks of Montaigu, Saint-Julien-des-Landes, Saint-Fulgent and Herbiers.
