On January 16, 2024, two men entered a house in North Meuse, hoping to find there 25,000 euros in cash. Based on rumors, they broke down a door and searched the house from top to bottom, reports L'Est Républicain.
Their bootyhowever, was limited to: a chain, three bracelets and a ring.
It was on his way home that the owner noticed a suspicious car, engine running, near his home. When its broken door revealed the break-in, the vehicle had already disappeared.
A careful investigation by the police
The police, after observing the damage and noting the clues, quickly found the trace of the vehicle. Their spinning made it possible to identify two suspects : the driverhabitual of the vehicle and its cousin .
Phone records confirmed their presence at the scene of the burglary.
-Only one of the burglars, an adult at the time of the crime, appeared before the Verdun court on January 15. At 22, he admitted his participation, admitting to having driven despite the suspension of his license, while shifting the main responsibility to his cousin.
According to our colleagues, in front of the judges, he tried to justify his act: “Basically, I don't do burglaries, but €25,000 is tempting. It was to enrich myself and out of lack of maturity. »
Six months in prison
Found guilty, the defendant received six months' imprisonment, with warrant of deposit, and four more months linked to a previous revoked reprieve.
He must also pay 356.50 euros to repair the material damage and 800 eurosfor the moral damage of the victim.
