The Moroccan selection of local players finds itself in a particularly tough Group A for the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024). The draw, held in Nairobi, placed the Atlas Lions against the host country, Kenya, as well as Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.
The Moroccans, double winners of the 2018 and 2020 editions organized on their territory, will play their group matches in the Kenyan capital. For its part, Senegal, title tenant, was positioned in group D, alongside Congo, Sudan and Nigeria.
Due to withdrawals recorded during the qualifying phases, two places remain to be filled in the competition. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is planning additional qualifications to complete the groups.
The CHAN, initially scheduled from February 1 to 28, 2024 and split between Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, was postponed to August 2025. This decision resulted from the recommendations of CAF experts, who requested more time to ensure that the infrastructures meet the requirements necessary for optimal organization. The exact kick-off date will be communicated later by CAF.
