Cinema in Maine-et-Loire. Feature and short films and previews at the Premiers plans festival in Angers

European cinema meets at Angers from January 18 to 26 for the 37th edition of the Premiers plans festivalat the convention center, at the Grand Théâtre, at the Quai and in the city's cinemas.

Nicole Garcia will chair the jury

The steps of the Jean-Monnier convention center will welcome some big names from the seventh art on this occasion.

The French filmmaker Nicolas Philibertknown in particular for his documentary Being and Having (2002) will host meetings around several of his films (The Least of Things, The Land of the Deaf, Nénette, etc.) as well as a masterclass open to all.

The actress Jeanne Balibar (César for best actress in 2018 for Barbara, by Mathieu Amalric) will also present several sessions of the retrospective dedicated to her career. Juho Kusosmanen, Cannes Grand Jury Prize in 2021 for Compartment n°6, will also be present in Angers.

In competition, nearly 100 films will be screened in seven sections, under the gaze of the juries and the public. There presidency of the feature film jury was entrusted to director and actress Nicole Garcia. She will be surrounded by director Anna Novion, actress Nadia Tereszkiewicz and director Boris Lojkine.

Director Erwan Le Duc will chair the short film jury. At her side, the actress Galatea Bellugi and the director Lisa Diaz.

Screenings and meetings with directors

The official theme, “Neighbors, neighbors”, will offer the public the opportunity to (re)discover around twenty feature films including Rear Window, Delicatessen or Edward Scissorhands.
