France Travail, Cheops and OTRE signed a partnership agreement on Thursday January 16 intended to meet the growing labor needs in the road transport of goods and passengers sector. This partnership is part of a proactive approach aimed at improving the attractiveness of transport professions and facilitating access to employment for job seekers.
The road transport sector faces major recruitment challenges. According to the latest data provided by the France Travail 2024 workforce requirements survey, 82,400 recruitment projects were planned in the road freight transport sector in 2024, of which 63.1% were considered difficult to fill. For the record, the most sought-after profession in the sector is that of road driver, with 81,300 offers currently online on the francetravail.fr website.

Companies in this sector must face increased competition and an image deficit which impacts their ability to attract qualified candidates. To remedy this, France Travail and OTRE wish to reduce recruitment difficulties and encourage the construction of career paths for the benefit of job seekers. Cheops, a structure of the Employment Network specializing in the integration and retention of disabled people in employment, will strengthen the sector's action with a view to inclusion.
The three partners have defined five main areas for their joint action:
- The development of relations between companies in the sector and France Travail: Facilitate regional contacts and strengthen knowledge of networks.
- The mobilization of France Travail recruitment services: Adapt support to the specific needs of businesses, particularly VSE-SMEs.
- The attractiveness of the professions: Promote road transport professions through targeted communication actions.
- Skills development: Contribute to the construction of training courses adapted to the needs of the sector.
- The inclusion of people with disabilities: working on professional integration in synergy with the Disability Teams, made up of France Travail agents and Cap emploi advisors, who work in each France Travail agency and support employers in their recruitment.
