A security perimeter was set up after a premises on Sainte-Catherine Street was hit by gunfire on Wednesday evening.

The window of a supervised injection center located in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, in Montreal, was shattered by a gunshot late Wednesday evening.
The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) reports that at least one shot was fired around 11 p.m. and hit the window of the center located on Sainte-Catherine Street.
When the police arrived on scene, they found that the center window was indeed broken and that at least one shell casing was on the ground

The gunshot did not cause any injuries.

Thursday morning, the SPVM was still trying to determine whether the injection center was the actual target of the shooting, or whether the bullet could have been fired in the context of a conflict outside before accidentally hitting the window of the center.
The police arrested two suspects in connection with this event. The two men aged 24 and 33 will be questioned by investigators, who will try to determine their involvement in this situation.
The Montreal police force is continuing its investigation. A security perimeter was set up around the crime scene and field work was still underway Thursday morning.
