After several weeks of investigation, two Marseillais were arrested and placed in police custody for having broken into 16 homes in the Vaucluse region between July and October 2024. According to the Cadenet brigade, in charge of the investigation, the two individuals stole in the municipalities of Cucuron, Lauris and Puyvert from homes, garden sheds, garages and trailers.
According to the police, the thefts began on July 9 in the town of Cucuron. “Tthree garden sheds are visited. In total, four electric bikes and tools were stolen. the police tell us. Until October 16, 2024, burglars are rampant in several municipalities near Cucuron, in Lauris and Puyvert, entering several houses in the same neighborhood.
Electric bikes, tools, jewelry, bags, electronic devices and cash are the loot of the two men arrested more than six months after the events. In total, the victims' damage is around 50,000 euros.
“The technical and biological investigations made it possible to implicate two brothers of Romanian nationality, domiciled in Marseille, having committed all the acts recorded at night.“, continue the gendarmes. One of them is presented for immediate appearance this Friday, January 10 at the Avignon judicial court. He was sentenced to three years in prison with a warrant of committal at the hearing, as well as five years of inadmissibility. The second has been hospitalized since the end of his police custody. He will be judged later.
