While the cold and calm reigned this Sunday, January 12 at the facilities of the agricultural high school of Brioude Bonnefont, the Ecocitizen Collective of Brivadois (CECB) ensured its traditional delivery of rural trees as part of the operation “To the citizen trees “.
From 10 a.m., the opening time of the shed doors where the 1,710 shrubs had been stored the day before according to orders, until 4 p.m., customers came one after the other. Noé Charles and Jade Neveux were among them. Arriving from Chamalières-sur-Loire, they learned of this meeting during the Retournac organic fair and ordered 122 young trees of 34 different varieties. Jade Neveux confided:
His companion explained: “We bought a plot of land of 4,500 m². We are going to make a first hedge and we anticipate the creation of an orchard. We would also like to make some firewood from the ash and oak trees.”
Beyond benefiting from the production of the Val d'Allier collective nursery, resulting from the associative dynamics of the CECB and working with seeds collected from the local wild population, the couple was also able to get plenty of advice. Volunteers, like Dominique Combis, Véronique Fournols and Luc Blondel, were present to share their know-how: how to preserve the plants until the future planting, organize the latter…
Fifteen thousand trees distributed
Since the launch of the operation in 2019, nearly 15,000 fruit and field trees have been sold. The collective will now prepare for the next order of fruit trees.
