During the Council of Ministers on January 15, the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye gave instructions on several national priorities.
Among these, he insisted on the need to accelerate the modernization of religious cities and the development of religious tourism. The Head of State stressed the importance of increased investment in these areas to strengthen Senegal’s influence as a leading religious destination.
He also addressed the strengthening of relations between the State and the different religious denominations, recalling the crucial role of religious centers in the consolidation of national unity and social stability. In order to formalize this relationship, the president reiterated his plan to create the General Delegation for Religious Affairs, an institutional body whose establishment will be done after consultation with stakeholders. This initiative aims to improve interactions between the state and religious institutions in Senegal.
