Lindsay, a 13-year-old schoolgirl victim of harassment, committed suicide at her home in Vendin-le-Vieil (Pas-de-), Friday, May 12.

The teenager had alerted management to these facts. Lindsay, a student in 4th grade, committed suicide on Friday May 12 at her home in Vendin-le-Vieil, in Pas-de-Calais. The young girl had denounced to the educational staff of the Bracke-Desrousseaux college the harassment of which she had been the victim for several months, by a group of girls, according to La Voix du .

Her mother, Betty, confided her impotence to the regional daily this Wednesday, May 24, on the sidelines of a white march organized in memory of the 13-year-old schoolgirl, who should have blown out her candles yesterday. “I knocked on every door. Finally, it was when Lindsay left that they decided to act!”. According to the bereaved mother, the harassment had started “in September”, as soon as the school year started. “It was insults in college and it continued by message and on the Internet,” she explained.

According to a friend of Lindsay, the victim was taken to task by this group of several girls, who used to insult him. A fight had broken out, filmed and then posted on social networks.

National Education confirms “harassment”

Contacted by our colleagues from BFMTV, the Ministry of National Education confirmed that a “first situation of harassment was known and dealt with”, and “that a “harassment” commission and adequate sanctions had been imposed” by the college the girl.

However, Lindsay’s entourage maintains that nothing had been done to resolve this situation. “I even wrote to the President of the Republic!” Said his grandmother, present behind a sign “Justice for Lindsay. Stop harassment” during the white march which brought together dozens of people in Vendin-le-Vieil.

An investigation has been opened following the death of the teenager. The latter will have to determine the existence of a link between the harassment suffered and the suicide of Lindsay, according to La Voix du Nord. The judicial police of heard several people and “five or six of them would have been brought before the prosecution on Friday”, announces the regional daily.
