The number of cases handled by the courts of the Kingdom amounted to 4,466,727 cases in 2024, or 103% of cases registered and 88.5% of the total number of cases in progress, said Wednesday in Rabat, the First President of the Court of Cassation, Deputy President of the Superior Council of the Judicial Power, Mohamed Abdennabaoui.

In a speech on the occasion of the opening of the 2025 judicial year, Mr. Abdennabaoui specified that the total number of cases pending before the courts of the Kingdom reached 5,052,086 cases in 2024, noting that the number of Pending cases reached 577,851, a decrease of 142,760 cases.

Over the past year, the Court of Cassation ruled on 52,904 cases, or 109% of the total 48,210 cases registered, he said, adding that the number of cases pending before the Court increased from 51,247 business at the end of 2023 to 46,549 in 2024, a drop of 9%. Mr. Abdennabaoui also underlined that the Superior Council of the Judicial Power seeks to develop its electronic services for the benefit of all justice professionals and to increase the publication of legal texts and studies, specifying in this context that the electronic portal of the Council reached nearly 13 million visitors from 130 countries. The CSPJ proceeded, over the past year, in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Justice, to the implementation of the digital transformation plan of the judicial system, indicated Mr. Abdennabaoui, indicating that preparations are underway to design software allowing magistrates to print and electronically sign judgments.

Furthermore, he noted that the Council pays particular attention to the moralization of the judicial system and adopts various approaches relating to awareness-raising and supervision, carried out with great efficiency by the Council’s ethics commission.

The year 2024, he continued, was marked by the completion of the first phase of the Council’s strategic plan aimed at supervising the associative landscape of magistrates, adding that the CSPJ works in collaboration with the professional associations of magistrates the development of a reference document for communication between judicial associations and institutions of the judicial power.

The opening ceremony of the judicial year, which took place in the presence of ministers and government and judicial officials, was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Belgian High Council of Justice as well as by the decoration of Royal Wissams of several magistrates.
