Ten years after establishing its presence in Morocco, the Belgian group Azelis is targeting a new Moroccan company. This specialist in specialty chemicals and additives for the food industry plans to acquire Chemical Partners Maghreb SA, an SME located on the outskirts of Casablanca, which generates an annual turnover of around 50 million dirhams, reports the magazine Challenge.

“The operation, which remains subject to the approval of the Competition Council, should enrich Azelis Morocco’s product portfolio with a diversified range, mainly intended for the paint, coating and construction industries. ”, says the article. This acquisition will also allow Azelis to cross the 400 million dirham revenue mark by 2025, thus consolidating its position as the undisputed leader in Morocco in the distribution of chemical products.

With this new acquisition, Azelis will carry out its third external growth operation in Morocco. In 2015, the group acquired Distralim, an SME specializing in the distribution of food ingredients and additives. Then, in 2018, he joined Orkila Maroc following the acquisition of Orkila Group, a chemical products distributor of Lebanese origin operating in North Africa and the Middle East.

« These two entities, absorbed in 2020 and 2021 respectively, allowed Azelis Morocco to quickly establish itself on the Moroccan market, where the group recently inaugurated an applications laboratory in Casablanca dedicated to the development of formulas for the agri-food industry, particularly in the segments of dairy products and derivatives, fruits, beverages and industrial pastries », The article further specifies.

The Azelis group is present in more than 60 countries, including three in Africa: Egypt, South Africa and Morocco. In 2023, this group, listed on Euronext, posted a consolidated turnover of 4.2 billion euros, for a net profit of 189 million euros.
