Football: Sion officially signed Kreshnik Hajrizi

FC Sion holds the successor to Joël Schmied, transferred to Cologne on Monday. The Valais club formalized this Wednesday the arrival of Kreshnik Hajrizi (25 years old), announced by us the day before. The central defender is on loan until the end of the season from Widzew Lodz, with an option to buy.

This is a return to his roots for the Kosovar international (4 caps), originally from Sierre and through the junior ranks of FC Sion. “I am proud to return to Valais and defend the colors of FC Sion. I like the project set up here and I can’t wait to show my qualities on the pitch,” he rejoices in the press release from the current 7th in the Super League.

Followed “for a long time” by the Sédunois, says sports director Barthélémy Constantin, Kreshnik Hajrizi completed his training at Young Boys before taking his first professional steps with Chiasso, in 2019. He then played in Lugano in from 2021.

Last summer, he took the plunge abroad by joining the Polish championship and Widzew Lodz. The experience was cut short, after only six matches played – championship and cup combined – including three as a starter.
