An episode of pollution (mixed type PM10, NO2) is underway in the Lyon/Nord-Isère basin. The Rhône prefect activates the information-recommendation level for the entire Rhône department and the Lyon metropolitan area, from Thursday January 16, in view of this episode of atmospheric pollution.
The main manifestation is the industrial snow visible south of Lyon, in the Chimie valley. Snow in name only.
Limit strenuous activities
If no measures are restrictive at this stage, postures are recommended. Vulnerable populations are invited to limit their travel on major roads and their surrounding areas during peak periods and to limit intense activities, both outdoors and indoors.
Favor gentle modes of travel
Several measures can be taken simply and help restore quality air. Stopping the use of additional open fireplaces, additional wood heating appliances (inserts, stoves, boilers installed before 2000) and generators is part of this.
Controlling the temperature of your home, using public transport, cycling, carpooling are also part of the solutions… Lowering your traffic speed is another.
As a reminder, all year round, it is prohibited to burn green waste. Vehicles classified Crit'air 5, 4, 3 or unclassified are prohibited within the Low Emission Zone (ZFE) of the Lyon Metropolis.
