The businesswoman announced in a letter sent to the media on Tuesday that she had decided “after careful consideration” to pass her turn for the next municipal elections.
Although she says she is “deeply touched” by “[les] voice and [les] encouragement to [se] present to Lévis town hall,” Ms. Morency affirms “having decided to continue the mission she gave herself six years ago” by joining the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Greater Lévis.
Last December 16, The Sun reported that Ms. Morency was considering launching the race to succeed Gilles Lehouillier and that she was making numerous calls and discussions to gauge the interest of the business community in her candidacy.
Asked to comment, the president and general director of the CCIGL confirmed our information, while insisting that she was entirely dedicated to her role at the chamber of commerce for the moment.
-“But I am not closing any doors in the future if I feel that I can continue to make a positive difference for our community,” said Marie-Josée Morency.
She also affirmed “to remain open to future opportunities that may present themselves to serve our community in an even more meaningful way.”
