From the Normandy fields, to the customer's door. The producers of CBD (see box), Jérôme and Katie Lecoq, settled near Neubourg (Eure), deliver now their products at home. “ It's like Uber Eatsbut with CBD,” summarizes Katie Lecoq.
« We were inspired by drug dealers! » jokes her husband. Offered within a radius of 30 kilometers around Neubourgdelivery is charged at 5 euros and available from 50 euros of order. “We have a good product and we want to reach out to people to introduce them to it,” explains the producer, who delivered to his first customers in December. At the moment, we are going everywhere to approach tobacconists and CBD shops, so delivery also allows us to kill two birds with one stone. »
Many products
Farmers made their first harvest, with the varieties Blue meringue et Ultra pinkin September 2024. Since then, they have made their mark in the region and their products are already available in stores in Bernay, Conches-en-Ouche, Le Neubourg, Évreux and soon Rouen. “In tobacco, the market is occupied by large groups. The professionals who took us were seduced by the side unique and local », Estimates Jérôme Lecoq. What's more, the La Cérès brewery, near Conches-en-Ouche, is currently preparing a beer concocted from its flowers.
In addition to flowers and pre-rolls, the couple has developed a whole range of products around their CBD: herbal teas, infused salt, spice blend… The infusions were concocted by Katie Lecoq, passionate about ancestral medicinal herbs. “I did a lot of research on the subject and we tested many recipes, with hemp but also peppermint, chamomile, valerian, etc. », explains the producer.
The range currently includes “bobo” herbal tea for menstrual pain and “dodo” to help sleep, to which will soon be added “gogo”, for energy and “popo”, for digestion problems. . “But we’re not sure we’ll keep this name!” » explains Jérôme Lecoq with a laugh.
At the Neubourg market
Never short of ideas to promote their CBD, Jérôme and Katie Lecoq set up a stall at the Neubourg market on Wednesday December 18. “The municipal police came to check our analyses, the mayor came to welcome us, everything went very well. A lot of people were curious about what we were selling, some thought it was drugs, so we explained it to them! » he relates.
-Following the first article, published in The Eure Courier on Wednesday October 16, the gendarmes also made contact with the farmer… to check that his operation was well secured against theft. “I appreciated the approach,” confides Jérôme Lecoq. “In California, the police don't protect farms at all,” says Katie, who comes from a small town in the north of the state.
CBD ?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive molecule derived from cannabis, known for its relaxing effects and therapeutic uses. In France, the consumption of CBD flowers has been legal since 2023. To be marketed, its level of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) – the psychotropic substance – must remain below 0.3%.
Soon the cut?
In the coming months, the couple will create their website to facilitate orders. “It’s complicated. Hosts and payment services cancel as soon as they see that CBD is being cultivated,” reveals the producer. The latter takes advantage of the winter to prepare his land with horse manure and hay, “we also collected leftover pressed apples which we will use,” he adds.
In April, the couple will present their Blue Meringue at the Platinum Cup 2025, during an agricultural show organized in Nantes to promote French CBD producers.
