In these freezing temperatures, the Langon motorway squad is increasing its interventions to remind motorists of the dangers of the road. Monday January 13, 2025, the gendarmes deployed a speed control device on the departmental 672particularly in the town of Saint-André-du-Bois (Gironde).
Two drivers speeding
On this axis particularly accident-pronetwo drivers stood out in particular.
The first, a man at the wheel of his BMW X5, registered at 160 km/h (retained 152 km/h) on a road limited to 80 km/h. The second, a 43-year-old man, was arrested by the police. while he was driving his Golf GTI at 139 km/h (retained 132 km/h).
The penalty is heavy
The result is clear for both drivers: impoundment of their vehicle and immediate and administrative suspension of license for six months.
They will be summoned before the Bordeaux judicial court. They risk a €1,500 fine. “You have to take your foot off the gas, especially in these very low temperatures, making the roadway extremely slippery” recalls the EDSR of Gironde.
