Jamai, who spoke at the opening, Tuesday in Fez, of the 39th Architect’s Day organized under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, invited architects to contribute to the successful completion of these development projects. to face the challenges of the territory’s vulnerability, “as evidenced by the fragile situation of several spaces within the city”.

He noted in this context that the spiritual capital of the Kingdom was founded and built around water by Moulay Idriss II, specifying that the choice of the location of the Idrisside capital was really motivated by the wealth of the water environment. , with around sixty sources.

Mr. Jamai added that this historical and architectural legacy reflects the rich heritage of the Medina of Fez as well as its traditions and values ​​which go back more than 1,200 years.

“Exploring these specificities really encourages immersion in a varied universe with vibrant traditions, ancestral know-how, and an urban and architectural heritage as rich as it is innovative,” he continued, emphasizing that the development of the cited both at the demographic and economic level “very quickly enabled the urban expansion of the Medina”.

The manager focused on the project of recreating life within the Medina through a major animation program, adding that the ambition goes beyond this objective and aims to integrate clean energies to erect this space as “Green Medina”.

He also noted that the theme of this day: “the citizen architect facing climate change”, challenges citizens, professionals and public and private actors and aims to instill a collective dynamic to build a sustainable and lasting future of the city ​​of Fez.

For Mr. Jamai, the celebration of this architects’ day coincides with the celebration of the Amazigh New Year “Id Yennayer 2975”, a day which “attests to the richness and cultural diversity of the Kingdom of which architecture always carries”.

Initiated by the National Council of the Order of Architects (CNOA), in partnership with the Ministry of National Land Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, this day sees participation architects, experts and decision-makers, in addition to representatives of orders and organizations of African architects.

This annual meeting, established in homage to the historic speech delivered by the late HM Hassan II on January 14, 1986 in Marrakech, took place this year in a context of environmental emergency by focusing on the role of architects in the transition towards a sustainable development and innovative approaches to respond to the growing challenges linked to water stress and energy management.

The event also brings together presidents of major international professional organizations, including the African Union of Architects (AUA), the Mediterranean Union of Architects (UMAR), and the Fédération des Architectes Francophones d’Afrique (FAFA).
