The Kasbah of Agadir Oufella celebrated, on the night of Monday January 13, Yennayer, the Amazigh New Year, in a festive and colorful atmosphere. A major musical show brought together many renowned artists, before a spectacular fireworks display lit up the sky over the capital of Souss, marking the transition to the year 2975, corresponding to January 14 of each year.
The evening, organized in the outdoor enclosure of the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella, offered the public a range of artistic performances. The Ahwach Tissint group, Zahra Tanirt and Ali Chouhad continued their performances, before the famous Aïcha Tacheniouite closed this party brilliantly. “We attended a beautiful evening, the artists were magnificent. We fully enjoyed the show», Confides a won over spectator.
Brahim Elmazned, artistic director of the local Timitar festival, highlighted the cultural significance of this event, a symbol of the preservation of Amazigh traditions. “All Moroccans celebrate the Amazigh New Year, but here, in the Souss region, the festivities take on a special dimension. We are witnessing a dynamic which contributes to safeguarding numerous rites and traditions, which constitute precious intangible capital“, he commented.

Ali Chouhad, who took part in this evening, was also pleased to see this celebration acquire official recognition, thanks to the initiative of King Mohammed VI. “This is a major step forward for all Moroccans“, he declared, emphasizing the links between the different components of Moroccan society, beyond languages and origins. “This diversity is a wealth that makes Morocco an exemplary model of coexistence, peace and stability.“, he concluded.
