LAUNCH OF WORK JANUARY 2025
The first shovels for the Multimodal Exchange Center site will begin in January 2025. Designed as a public space open to all, it will transform the station into a real lively, secure and airy place to live.
Why build a Multimodal Exchange Hub?
This project was born from an observation: Surgères station is a real mobility crossroads. Today, we have more than 500,000 travelers each year, and this number continues to grow. This center aims to meet these needs by developing connections between trains, coaches, cars, bicycles and pedestrians. It will also be an important lever for the attractiveness of the territory. As a strategic gateway to Aunis South, it will effectively connect residents, visitors and economic players. By integrating the station into the heart of urban development and facilitating soft and collective mobility, this project will promote interconnection between municipalities and support local dynamism, while acting as an essential lever for the future of the region.
The objectives of the project
The multimodal exchange hub project will take into account the needs expressed by users and residents of the neighborhood:
- preserve the station’s rail transport offering,
- offer users and residents of the neighborhood a functional and secure space: train station/city center connections, securing pedestrian access
- improve the image of the city through public development that is both useful and attractive.
Work schedule
The duration of the work will extend over 6 successive phases for a total duration of work estimated at 18 months, from January 2025 to September 2026.
