Diourbel, January 13 (APS) – Fifty-eight “daara” (Quranic schools) were selected in the region of Diourbel (center) as part of the Project to Improve the Performance of the Education System (PAPSE), learned the APS of the Diourbel academy inspection.
“Today, it was a question of selecting the 58 daara in the Diourbel region which must be supported as part of the project to improve the performance of the education system (PAPSE),” explained the secretary general of the inspection of Diourbel academy, Modou Ndiaye.
He assured that “the draw was done in complete transparency in the presence of all the families of actors”.
Eleven daaras were selected in Bambey, four in Diourbel and 43 in the Mbacké department, explained Mr. Ndiaye.
He spoke at the end of the daara selection meeting in the presence of Koranic masters, ”ndeyu daara” (godmothers of Koranic schools) and imams and stakeholders in the education system.
The head of the planning and statistics division at the Daara directorate, Babacar gaye, specifies that the daaras selected as part of the PAPSE project will benefit from more service packages.
These parquet services include in particular the recruitment of a service provider responsible for providing French and mathematics courses and introduction to science and technology.
-Babacar Gaye added that these daara will also benefit from health and nutritional support with the creation of a school canteen for the residents.
Service providers will benefit from strengthening their capacities, he continued. He also announced that Koranic masters will be equipped in the field of management to ensure the proper functioning of the daara management committees.
He recalled that the objective of the PAPSE is to strengthen the quality of teaching-learning in the daara which, according to him, constitute an important pillar of our educational heritage.
The project to improve the performance of the education system aims to support 600 daaras nationwide.
