The traditional sailing season began this Sunday morning (January 12) with the 1st round of the Apiyé challenge, which took place in the port of Petit Bourg.
And of the 36 Saintois canoes leaving, it is the regional one for the stage, Hugo Thélier on his Ordinaire Big Mat boat who won:
The others sailed well, whether Josias Philibert, Antoine Lefort, Fabien Delporte, Jean-Félix. On small differences, a little experience, we manage to place ourselves in front. I'm happy, but until the end it was hot.
Josias Philibert 2nd
The surprise comes from Sainte-Anne for this first race of the year, it is the very good performance of the young crew of Josias Philibert on his boat Eger. He finished second having led the first half of the race.
This is a good introduction. We are all happy, we gave everything. But it shows that we still have things to review to lead the race.
Antoine Lefort 3rd
Antoine Lefort (Botanical Garden) finished in 3rd place. It’s off to a very good start this year 2025:
There we made a good place. Next time it might be different. We are happy today. We take what we can take.
Marie Bascou on Yemanja wins among the women and remains the favorite to succeed in this Apiyé challenge.
The second round of the Apiyé Challenge will take place on February 23, in Sainte-Anne.
