The polar cold has hit France since last weekend, and the thermometer could drop below -10 degrees in the coming days. 34 departments are on alert.
It was -2 degrees this Monday January 13 in the morning in Valence (Drôme), so you have to cover up. In the market, customers, even when wrapped up in several layers, do not linger. “It’s hard, I can’t wait to be home, shopping like that is a chore”explained a resident. It's the same feeling for those behind the stalls. The temperature seems very different from that displayed on the thermometer.
Due to the freezing temperatures, there were few people in the city park in the morning. A wildlife photographer, who came in search of squirrels, was an exception. “I wait, sometimes I can't hold my camera anymore, I have to blow on my hands. Sometimes it's a disaster”he said. The cold weather is expected to persist for the next few days. To cope with it, the solution may be to stay active.
