It no longer has any shine forex trader who made juicy profits from buying and selling currencies. At 76, Mr. F., one of the pioneers in this field in Geneva, has lost everything, except his chat and his taste for detail. Tried since Monday by the Criminal Court, the defendant is inexhaustible on the context which led to the bankruptcy of his financial company, then to his self-denunciation. He attributes this discomfiture to increasingly draconian regulations and the historic fall in the pound sterling that followed the victory of Brexit supporters in June 2016.

Accused of multiple offenses against heritage for having hidden the debacle and causing damage of some 20 million francs, the person concerned, defended by Me Kevin Saddier, recognizes the essential facts, but pleads the pious effort aimed at piecing together the pieces. “I was devastated and sorry for all those people who trusted me and lost their money. It was the hardest aspect for me to face.” Clients who – apart from a single complainant – deserted the judgment hearing. Ruined after the bankruptcy declared in January 2018, the defendant claims to have previously sold all his assets to cope. “It cushioned the fall, but it didn’t save the company.”
