While tensions were at their height between Younes Sekkouri, the Minister of Economic Integration and the union authorities, a truce seemed to calm the waves of the confrontation. Promises exchanged between the supervisory ministry and the National Union of Labor in Morocco (UNTM) have canceled, for the moment, any attempt at escalation.
After several rounds of dialogue and meetings, public opinion is preparing for a truce “conditioned” in the employment sector. Indeed, following last Friday’s meeting between Younes Sekkouri, the Minister of Economic Integration, Small Business, Employment and Skills and the National Secretary of the National Federation of Civil Servants in the Employment Sector , affiliated with the UNTM, the Minister reaffirmed his commitment to taking concrete measures to support social dialogue and strengthen the constructive partnership with the various social actors within the institution of sectoral social dialogue, in order to promote the achievement of their demands legitimate.
Can we say that the standoff is finally resolved in a peaceful climate? Nothing is guaranteed so far but a compromise overwhelms. During this meeting, the commitment to continue the sectoral dialogue and to set the first week of February 2025 for the resumption of the work of the financial commission and the administrative commission, in order to take stock of the achievements and projects in progress. course, while reviewing the problems and constraints encountered by civil servants in the sector and working to resolve them, was noted.
The monitoring of the work to modify and promulgate the decree on traffic allowances for the body of labor inspectors has been decided. Not only that, the two bodies have set May 1, 2025 as the date of signing the minutes of agreement relating to the status of the body of labor inspectors.
-In response to these commitments, the national federation of civil servants in the employment sector has decided to continue to limit the number of field visits to 10 visits only, pending the official implementation of the decree on travel allowances.
An appeasement is expected. The federation also decided to suspend the national strike planned for January 16, 2025, which included two protest rallies in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Economic Integration, Small Business, Employment and Skills, as well as in front of the Ministry of Finance and the Economy, until receipt of the results of the meetings scheduled for the first week of February 2025.
Thus, the said federation reaffirms its rejection of any postponement or delay in the implementation of these commitments, urging all civil servants to strengthen their mobilization and to remain vigilant in the face of any breach of commitments, until the realization of their demands judged” legitimate”.
