Morocco consolidates its leading position in the Spanish fruit and vegetable market in 2024, becoming the main supplier of horticultural products to Spain.
According to recent data from the Spanish Department of Customs and Special Taxes, processed by the Spanish Federation of Producers-Exporters of Fruits, Vegetables, Flowers and Live Plants (Fepex)Morocco exported fruits and vegetables worth 801 million euros to Spain between January and October 2024. This represents an increase of 13% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Spanish imports from countries outside the European Union (EU) reached 2.7 billion euros between January and October 2024, or 66% of the total fruit and vegetables imported by Spain. Among these countries, Morocco stands out as the leading supplier, followed by Peru with 501 million euros (+22%) and France with 426 million euros (+22%).

In terms of volume, products from third countries represented 1.8 million tonnes, while those imported from EU member states totaled 1.7 million tonnes. The overall figures reveal a 12% increase in the total value of Spanish fruit and vegetable imports, reaching 4.1 billion euros for a volume of 3.5 million tonnes (+7%).
