Firefighters from the Mazières-en-Gâtine and Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers fire and rescue center celebrated Sainte-Barbe's Day on Friday January 10, 2025 at the Prieuré Saint-Martin hall in Verruyes. The opportunity for Captain Julien Pintaud, head of the barracks supported by Lieutenant Jean-Luc Gaychet, to take stock of the year 2024 with a slight increase (+ 2%) in the number of interventions, totaling 327 : 72% concerned emergency assistance to people, 12% public road accidents, 7% fires, 6% the protection of property and the environment and 2% technological risks.

Among the outings which marked the 29 firefighters of the station: the death of the driver of a car swept away by the current in Saint-Georges-de-Noisné during the floods on February 22 and the fatal accident on Saturday, December 21 on the D743 in Mazières-en-Gâtine.

During this ceremony, in the presence of elected officials from the canton, Coralie Dénoues, president of the Department, and Captain Cordeau, commander of the Parthenay company, distinctions were presented. First of all, three medals of honor for the firefighters: Gold level to chief sergeant Thierry Moreau for his 30 years of service, Silver level to chief warrant officer Mathieu Nivault for his 20 years of service and Bronze level to the sergeant Jérôme Hivet for his 10 years of service. Six firefighters received a stripe: that of first class sapper to sappers Nicolas Baudon, Coraline Chaigneau and Rachel Chevreau, chief warrant officer to warrant officers Julien Roucher and Emmanuel Thomazeau and captain to lieutenant Julien Pintaud.
