1,200 km of additional highways by 2030

The national highway company of Morocco (ADM) maintains its ambitions in 2025, despite the many challenges (growth, debt and modernization) that it faces. The institution will continue the important infrastructure projects underway, with a view to the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup.

With an accumulated debt of 40 billion dirhams, ADM does not have the means to invest in new projects. This is what a report from the parliamentary mission reveals. However, the company will have to build an additional 1,200 kilometers of highways to reach a total network of 3,000 kilometers, in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup that Morocco is organizing alongside Spain and Portugal.

On December 23, the company’s board of directors, meeting under the chairmanship of Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, approved a budget of 4.1 billion dirhams for 2025, reflecting the ADM’s sustained ambition for the development and modernization of the national motorway network.

Thus, ADM will continue this year with its infrastructure projects, including the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway (30 km, 2.5 billion dirhams), intended to bypass Casablanca and streamline traffic between the north and south of the kingdom; the Rabat-Casablanca continental highway (59 km, 6 billion dirhams) aimed at streamlining traffic and providing comfort to users.

The report recommends reducing ADM’s debt and revising the 2019 framework agreement which sets the duration of the concession at 99 years. The document also suggests strengthening the company’s internal workforce and promoting the expertise of the company’s executives. It is also recommended the deployment of surveillance cameras to strengthen road safety, and the activation of the ADM Trafic information radio to alert and inform users in real time.
