In the premium Germanic trio, the BMW i4 launched in 2021 then restyled in 2024 has free rein. Indeed, both Audi and Mercedes do not currently have any proposals directly competing with it to put in their hands. But this period of calm will only last for a while.
At the end of 2025, the brand with the rings will be the first to react and will present its Audi A4 e-tron. While in 2026, Mercedes will unveil its “EQC” sedan, this battery-powered alter ego of the C Class will be placed in the range below the EQE and EQS sedans. But the name and especially the silhouette will return to the classics. The rather traditional clientele of the brand with the star did not adhere to the “banana” profile, which is certainly aerodynamic but really disconcerting on a cosmetic level.

The BMW i3 will be in the running
Faced with this duo, BMW, not wishing to rest on its laurels, will not sit idly by and will offer itself a new i3 which will be based on the Neue Klasse technical platform which will be released at the end of the year by the BMW iX3 SUV. The BMW i3 and iX3 will benefit from a futuristic digital interface which has just been presented at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
But let’s come back to the Audi A4 e-tron which will benefit from the PPE technical platform shared in the Volkswagen group by the Porsche Macan, Audi Q6 e-tron and by the big sister Audi A6 e-tron. Like the latter, the Audi A4 e-tron will give you the choice between two bodies, a sedan with a hatchback and the front Audi A4 e-tron, in other words the station wagon.

Shared furniture for the A4 e-tron
In the passenger compartment, the sharing that we already observe between the different models will still be relevant with the presence of this 26.4-inch curved panel enhancing the dashboard.
This 100% electric family sedan will have a battery with a capacity close to 100 kWh which should allow it to claim a range of around 700 km. While using 800V charging technology, replenishing electrons will be quick with enough to cover 250 km in just 10 minutes.
Under the hood, the 367 hp electric machine of the Audi A6 e-tron will be used on the most upscale variants of the Audi A4 e-tron, almost on par with the BMW i4 eDrive40. However, the heart of the range should be entrusted to a 285 hp version, this time targeting the BMW i4 eDrive35. Finally, at the other end of the spectrum, the Audi S4 e-tron and RS4 e-tron will top the offering in the years to come.
The Audi A4 e-tron will complement the Audi A5 range launched at the end of 2024.
