Algeria The Moroccan team is making a radical decision regarding the preparation camp for the 2024 African Local Players Championship (CHAN).

The Moroccan team of natives of 2000 and above, which was to participate in a preparation course for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), saw the latter canceled by coach Tarik Sektioui. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed the decision, specifying that the training course, initially scheduled for January 12 to 15, 2025 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, will ultimately not take place. This cancellation affects a team which had 30 players called for this preparation session.

The CHAN, a competition reserved for players playing in their countries’ national championships, will take place from February 1 to 28, 2025, with matches taking place in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Although the decision to cancel the internship may raise questions, it could be linked to logistical considerations or technical requirements specific to the team.

This continental tournament represents an important showcase for local talent and allows these players to stand out on the international scene. Morocco, which had a solid run in previous editions, was looking to strengthen its group with this preparation. The cancellation of this course therefore modifies the initial plans, and it remains to be seen how the FRMF and coach Tarik Sektioui intend to adapt the preparation for such a decisive competition.

It is still too early to know the exact reasons for this change in program, but attention is now focused on the next steps and how the national group will prepare for this important deadline.
