A direct airline linking the airports of Nador El Aroui and Rabat-Salé, with two return flights per week, was launched on Sunday.
The first flight of this new line, launched by the company “Air Arabia Maroc”, with the support of the Oriental Region Council, took off from Nador El Aroui airport to Rabat-Salé airport, in the presence the governor of the province of Nador, Jamal Chaarani, the president of the regional council, Mohamed Bouarourou, and the general director of Air Arabia Maroc, Leila Mechbal.
The inauguration of this direct air line, which comes after the launch, on January 9, of the direct line linking the airports of Oujda-Angad and Rabat-Salé, is part of the efforts deployed to strengthen the air connectivity between cities in the Oriental and other regions of the Kingdom, as well as to promote economic and tourism development in the region.

For Mr. Bouarourou, this new line, which falls within the framework of the implementation of two partnership agreements signed between the Council of the Oriental region, the company Air Arabia Maroc and the Wilaya of the Oriental, aimed to strengthen the air connection between the airports of Oujda-Angad and Nador El Aroui with the airport of Rabat-Salé, aims to contribute to strengthening the economic and tourist dynamics of the provinces of Nador and Driouch, in particular with the imminent opening of the major “Nador West Med” project.
The president of the Regional Council added, in a statement to MAP, that the inauguration of this new line is also part of the Council’s commitments in favor of the economic and tourist promotion of the region and the strengthening of its attractiveness, thus contributing to the achievement of its socio-economic development.

He specified that the two agreements, approved by the Council during its ordinary session in October 2024, required an investment of more than 24.3 million dirhams, in order to support the launch of these two direct lines to preferential rates, for a period extending over three years, renewable.
Mr. Bouarourou considered that the launch of these two new lines will strengthen the existing air links between the Oriental region and other regions of the Kingdom, in addition to the air lines supported by the Regional Council with Royal Air Maroc, which connect the airports in the Oriental region to Casablanca airport.
This will allow the region to implement an ambitious strategy aimed at making it an attractive and open destination at the national and international levels, in response to the expectations of the region’s inhabitants who often encounter difficulties in reaching the capital by other routes. means of transport already available, he added.
For her part, Ms. Mechbal welcomed the launch of the first airline linking the cities of Nador and Rabat, stressing that this line will help reduce the duration of travel, encourage tourism and facilitate the movement of Moroccan travelers and foreigners between the two cities.
She explained that this line is operated by Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 seats, with two flights per week during the winter (Sunday and Wednesday), ensuring that the number of flights should increase to three per week. starting next summer.
