Live coverage of the municipal elections in Celles: participation rate down slightly

12:30 p.m.: Warmth and friendliness at the Velaines polling station!

How can we contrast with the tension of an electoral vote which tenses up the candidates as much as the presidents of offices and assessors? With a fire and little sweets! The teaching team at the Velaines school understands this. She was not mistaken, the atmosphere is friendly, between the coffee, the crackling fire and the pastries.

11:30 a.m.: At the Celles office, a later crowd

The first morning estimates confirmed a fairly clear downward trend for citizen participation. At the Celles office, it seems that voters arrive later, but that the drop would not be that significant.

10:30 a.m.: no press in the offices

The polling stations have been open since 8 a.m. Given the climate of tension and the system put in place, the presidents of the offices refused the presence of the press. The participation rate was expected to be down compared to last October and this seems to be confirmed given the few people lining up this morning. However, to see if this changes during the day with the weather conditions. Voting ends at 1 p.m.

This Sunday’s vote will be close, like that of October. Everything can swing one way or the other.

The big unknown: the participation rate. Vote or boycott? It’s up to the voters of Celles to decide.

Once in the voting booth, they will have the choice between the list of the outgoing mayor Michaël Busine (LB – OC), his first alderman promised to the sash before the appeal Jean Delestrain (Les Engagés), the former mayor Yves Willaert ( Celles Demain) and the neophyte Régis Berte (Celles Moment).
